I hope the summer months treated you all well and that there will be many stories to tell about adventures.
Monthly meetings are starting up again! Our 15 September 2022 meeting will be hosted by St. Mary’s University. We’ll have presentations from some of the students who receive scholarships from SWGMS. This is a great opportunity to see the difference the club makes in advancing science and particularly geology interests. Keep an eye out for a follow-up e-mail with a map of the university and building/room number. That last part is the most important and unfortunately is still TBD.
When we do return to the San Antonio Garden Center in October, SWGMS needs some volunteers to bring in light snacks or drinks. Please touch base with me at (joann.swgms@att.net) so I can coordinate with you and other volunteers.
We will have an outdoor table at BlingFest which will be held at the San Antonio Garden Center 17 and 18 September. It will be very casual and a great opportunity to talk to people about our club and the things we do. Please touch base with me and let me know if you are interested in coming out, or just hanging out!
The following weekend is our club event at the Wonderland of America’s Mall.
September is off to a ROCKING start! 🙂
15 SEPTEMBER MEETING LOCATION:
We will be holding the business meeting and program in Moody Life Sciences 101 this year. Members are welcome up in the museum starting at 6:00 pm if you would like to see what we have been up to. We have been working to update our displays and incorporate some of new specimens from the Oppenheimer Collection. The museum is located on the second floor of Garni Hall.
Visitors can park in lot A and lot V for the evening. These lots are located on Camino Santa Maria, so use 1 Camino Santa Maria as your destination in your mapping programs. If you just put in the University as your destination, it will send you to the wrong side of campus where the baseball fields are.
Please note that Garni Hall is Building 8 on the map and the Moody Life Sciences Center is building 21.
